Seeds of Solidarity’s Women Healing Women Healing Earth program provides free workshops with culturally diverse local artists, chefs, and healers. Offered in a relaxing farm setting, women – mostly low-income, gain creativity, wellbeing, and new friendships. - Engage: Deerfield
Nominating member: Lucinda Brown, Org Rep: Lili Dwight
Engage: Deerfield transforms resident interest into civic action through education, events, and a high-impact newsletter. With proven growth in participation, a grant will support nonprofit development to sustain and expand this successful community engagement model. - Friends of the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter Inc.
Nominating member: Carole Groman, Org Rep: Leslee Colucci
The Friends of the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter financially supports the FCSO Regional Animal Shelter to assist with dogs that are rescues, strays or seizures. Through direct care, the shelter works to improve dogs’ lives, and when possible, support and/or educate the pet owners. Their mission is to protect and improve the lives of stray, lost and unwanted dogs by offering a safe, welcoming facility, providing care and enrichment, and finding a home best suited for each animal.
Each of the presentations was engaging and informative. Hearing about non-profits we may not know about is one of the goals of 100+ WWC. It is always difficult to choose, as all of the non-profits are doing amazing work in our community.
Seeds of Solidarity was chosen as this quarter’s recipient of our group gift. The voting results were as follows: Seeds of Solidarity received 37 votes, Friends of the FC Reg. Dog Shelter received 30 votes, and Engage Deerfield received 21 votes for a total of 88 votes.
The Steering Committee would like to thank all of the members who nominated organizations and made presentations this quarter. All of the speakers did a great job – they were organized and illuminating. All of us in the audience were engaged and interested to learn about these amazing non-profits.
